Why Fable paused
We want to be honest about where Fable stands and why progress has slowed. Right now, the project is paused because we do not have enough available team members to keep moving at a pace we can realistically sustain.
The people behind Fable have responsibilities and commitments outside the project. Everyone’s availability is different, and lately there has not been enough consistent overlap to give Fable the attention it needs. This is not about a lack of appreciation for the community or the work already put into the project. It is about recognizing the limits of what our current team can reasonably manage.
Why we decided to step back
Building a project takes more than having ideas for what comes next. It also requires people who have the time to develop those ideas, review changes, coordinate with one another, and follow through. When a small team is stretched thin, even straightforward tasks can take longer than expected.
Rather than continue creating expectations we may not be able to meet, we felt it was better to acknowledge the situation openly. Taking a pause gives us room to look at our capacity honestly instead of committing to a schedule that depends on people having time they may not have.
What this means for Fable’s future
We have not made a final decision about Fable’s long-term future. A return is possible, but it depends on the availability of the people involved and whether we can bring more team members into the project.
Additional help could make a meaningful difference. However, growing the team also takes time, coordination, and people who can contribute consistently. We need to understand what level of commitment is realistic before deciding what we can take on next.
We also want to be clear that discontinuing Fable remains a possibility. If we cannot build a team with enough capacity to support the project sustainably, we may decide that bringing it to an end is the most responsible choice. That outcome has not been confirmed, but we do not want to hide it or suggest that a return is guaranteed.
Why we are not sharing a return date
At the moment, we cannot give a reliable timeline for development to resume. Setting a date before we know who is available would create another expectation without a solid plan behind it.
Our next steps depend on conversations within the team, a clearer understanding of everyone’s commitments, and whether more people can join us. Until those pieces are clearer, we would rather communicate uncertainty honestly than make promises we cannot confidently keep.
Thank you for supporting Fable
We appreciate everyone who has shown interest in Fable, shared feedback, or spent time supporting the project. The work that has gone into it matters to us, and pausing is not a decision we take lightly.
For now, we are taking the time to decide what a realistic future for Fable could look like. That may mean returning with a stronger team and a more manageable scope, or it may mean deciding that the project cannot continue. Whatever the outcome, we want our decisions and communication to reflect the time and trust people have given us.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
